Congressman Tom Suozzi Applauds Glen Cove Hospital as One of Only Two U.S. Health Care Organizations to Receive 2025 Baldrige National Quality Award

Glen Cove, NY – Congressman Tom Suozzi (D–Long Island, Queens) today announced that Northwell Glen Cove Hospital has been selected as one of only two health care organizations in the United States to receive the 2025 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award — the nation’s highest recognition for organizational excellence in hospitals and health care organizations.

“This is the gold standard,” Suozzi said. “Receiving the Baldrige Award means you’re operating at the very highest level in the country. For Glen Cove Hospital to be one of only two hospital-based health care institutions nationwide to earn this honor is truly extraordinary.”

The Baldrige National Quality Award was established by Congress in 1987 and is administered by the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, which recognizes excellence across sectors including hospital and healthcare organizations, within the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) at the U.S. Department of Commerce.

In September, Suozzi participated in the site visit when NIST evaluators came to Glen Cove Hospital, speaking directly about the hospital’s role in the community.

“I told the evaluators that Glen Cove Hospital is not just a building with beds — it’s part of our family’s story,” Suozzi said. “It’s where our parents have been treated, where our grandparents received care, where our children are brought in emergencies. It’s where my mother worked as an ER nurse and where my three children were born. It is woven into the fabric of this community.”

“One of the things that makes this hospital special is that it combines world-class standards with a hometown feel,” he continued. “You can receive top-tier medical care without ever leaving your neighborhood.”

Suozzi noted that, as a Member of Congress, one of the first Community Funded Projects he requested was $2 million to help establish Glen Cove Hospital as Northwell Health’s first Geriatric Center of Excellence.

“That investment was about recognizing who we are as a community,” Suozzi said. “We have three nursing facilities, three assisted living facilities, and the largest and most vibrant senior center on Long Island. We are a community that supports our seniors — and that’s a good thing. It means people want to age here.”

“Geriatric care is deeply personal to me,” he added. “Like many families, I’ve watched my own parents and grandparents age. Seniors want to age in place. They want dignity. They want quality care close to home. Glen Cove Hospital understands that.”

Suozzi also pointed to Glen Cove Hospital’s designation as an Age-Friendly Community by AARP, noting that the hospital’s commitment to senior health was instrumental in earning that recognition.

“When you look at the full picture — the senior center with adult day care, the nursing homes, the assisted living communities, and now a nationally recognized hospital — you see a community that doesn’t just talk about caring for its people, it proves it every day,” Suozzi said.

“This award confirms what we’ve known all along,” he concluded. “Glen Cove Hospital delivers excellence. It delivers compassion. And it delivers for the people of Glen Cove. I couldn’t be prouder.”
