"I am honored by your support of a scholarship in my name to send student scholars through the Baldrige Examiner Training Experience. The future of the Baldrige Enterprise depends on creating the next generation of Baldrige professionals. Thank you for your commitment to the future of Baldrige--a truly unique public-private partnership dedicated to excellence."
-- Dr. Curt Reimann
The Dr. Curt Reimann Baldrige Scholarship provides recipients an opportunity to attend training in the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence. The scholarship was created to recognize the importance of the role played by examiners in the Baldrige Award process. Recipients will be students or recent graduates from graduate programs. They will be given the opportunity to participate in the Baldrige Examiner Training Experience.
Dr. Reimann served as the first Director of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and Director for Quality Programs at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), from the inception of the Award in 1987 until his retirement in 1995. The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, created by Public Law 100-107, was established to promote quality awareness, recognize excellent U.S. companies, and publicize successful quality strategies.
In 1989, Dr. Reimann was recognized by The Quality Review as one of the "Ten Most Influential Figures in Quality for 1988." In 1992, Dr. Reimann received a Distinguished Rank Award from President Bush. Dr. Reimann is credited with developing the original Criteria for Performance Excellence and the Baldrige Award process, including the concept of using volunteers from the public and private sector to create the Board of Examiners.
Through the awarding of the Dr. Curt Reimann Baldrige Scholarship, recipients are enabled to learn and ultimately integrate the concepts of the Baldrige Excellence Framework throughout their various career paths.
Scholarship recipients will be announced at the annual Quest for Excellence conference.
