About the Award

The Excellence Award in Resilience and Sustainability recognizes organizations that have built systems enabling them to adapt, endure, and sustain performance over time, particularly in the face of disruption, uncertainty, or long-term challenges.

This award recognizes a comprehensive system for long-term organizational viability. It is not limited to environmental initiatives or compliance programs.

Who May Be Nominated

Any individual or organization may either self-nominate or be nominated for this award.

Strong Nominees Demonstrate

  • A defined system for identifying and responding to risks or disruptions 
  • Integration of resilience and sustainability into strategy and operations 
  • Consistent application of these systems across the organization 
  • Evidence of stability or improvement during periods of change 
  • Long-term planning that supports sustained performance 
  • Learning from past disruptions and continuous refinement

Role of Examples

Nomination essays must include at least one example of:

  • A disruption, challenge, or major change 
  • How the system guided the response 
  • The resulting outcomes

Award Limits

  • Up to one recipient may be recognized each year
  • Award is not guaranteed and may be withheld

Submission Requirements

  1. Online Award Nomination Form
    Fill out the nomination form in the online application.  
     
  2. Business Overview
    Nomination must include a business overview of the organization. 
     
  3. Nomination Essay (1,200 word limit) 
    The essay must address your organization’s approach to resilience and sustainability, including how risks, disruptions, and long-term challenges are identified and managed. Explain the systems used to respond to change and how resilience and sustainability practices are integrated into operations and decision-making. Include one specific example of a disruption or challenge and describe how your system guided the response, what actions were taken, and what outcomes resulted.
